What do you do when you have a 22-year old project that you need to modernize for current frameworks and operating systems? Rewrite it from scratch, maybe? Many of us would be tempted to do just that, but with Claude Code, anything is possible.
In this production, @Jon Skeet and @Rob Conery crack open SubSonic 2.x, a much-loved .NET data access tool that is over 22 years old. It hasn’t been touched in so, so long but it’s still being used actively to this day.
These videos are “live” episodes, with both Jon and I doing our best to manage Claude through this process. Jon is an “AI Pragmatist”, which means he likes to use it, but skeptically, and carefully. Rob, on the other hand, is all-in.
Together, we’re going to revive SubSonic! Each post will be shot “live”, and then edited for clarity and watchability. We’ll also welcome our Core Subscription members to join us live as we dig in to the code!
